Edwards along with O'Neil represent the initial names under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend following the squad's 10-match without a victory start to the Premier League campaign.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous associations to the team - are part of the options to be considered by the club leadership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible hurdle to his hiring at Molineux.

However the former Luton Town head coach - who made over a century of appearances for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a strong candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is said to have support from the club board as they begin the search of hiring a fresh head coach.

O'Neil is additionally appearing as a unexpected contender, even though he would be a surprising appointment considering he was released by the club in December last year.

The ex- West Ham player is currently unemployed meaning the club would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
